Car and cash stolen in Cavan town burglary

Burglars targeted a Cavan town home at the weekend making off with jewellery, cash and a car.

Gardai in Cavan are investigating the incident which occurred in the Carrickfern area in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 1.

"A quantity of jewellery and a sum of cash was taken. A silver Toyota Yaris, 10 CN, was also taken from the scene and is still outstanding," detailed gardaí in a social media post.

They issued the following appeal: "Have you seen this car abandoned somewhere or if you can assist in any way please contact Cavan Gardai on 049 4368800.

The Gardai in Cavan also received a number of reports of suspicious activity in the Cherrymount area the same morning between the hours of 1am and 2am. Again if you can assist please contact us in Cavan.
