New bus route connecting Shercock and Carrickmacross to Dundalk

The route has been confirmed by the Local Link

A new Local Link bus route connecting Shercock to Carrickmacross has been confirmed.

Welcoming this improvement to local link services, Fianna Fáil Deputy Brendan Smith stated his party in Government "is very conscious of the need to connect people and places in rural as well as urban areas, with accessible, integrated, and sustainable public transport.

“Enhanced routes on our public transport network in addition to the fare reductions introduced by Government, make it easier for people to be able to access and choose public transport as their preferred way of travelling.

"Today’s announcement has a far-reaching benefit for households, communities and businesses across Cavan, Monaghan and Louth with a new route connecting Shercock and Carrickmacross to Dundalk.''

Fianna Fáil Senator Robbie Gallagher also welcomed the news, stating "Public transport is not only an environmentally friendly option but also socially inclusive and can be a cheaper way to get around. This new route will connect more people with who and what matters to them.''
