Safety concerns at Crosskeys junction
Safety concerns regarding the Kilnaleck Road junction at Crosskeys were raised at the June meeting of the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District. The junction, known locally as Conlon’s Cross, was flagged by Cllr Trevor Smith (FG).
He outlined that, while pulling up to the junction in a vehicle, it is “hard to see up towards Ballyjamesduff".
"It’s a very dangerous place,” he insisted.
Cllr Smith added there are telecom poles at the junction, which are impairing vision.
In response, senior executive engineer, Michael Smith, said he was aware of the issues at that particular junction due to ongoing complaints.
He explained the council is in discussions with landowners regarding possible safety solutions at the junction.
When asked if it was difficult to move the poles, Mr Smith replied: “It comes with a cost.”
