Lorraine shares stage with Crowe and Bublé

After a busy couple of weeks touring with a Hollywood legend, Cavan singer Lorraine O’Reilly is taking a break before she goes on the road again.

The Ballyconnell native toured Australia with Russell Crowe’s band for a series of shows called the Indoor Garden Party and is now preparing for a European tour.

“I’m dead, I just left Sydney and arrived back in the UK where I’m based for a few days and will be going on tour again, starting in Malta on Saturday.

“We did a week of rehearsals and then we launched into 18 shows in Australia across four states in just over a month. But after a few days off I’ll be looking forward to getting going again. “

She hopes the Indoor Garden Party tour will come to Ireland in the near future.

“Unfortunately we don’t have any Irish dates this time, even though there have been a lot of requests for it. It’s built around Italy and Malta due to the Gladiator being set there. He really enjoyed his run here in 2017 so he’ll hopefully come back in 2024.”

Prior to going on tour Lorraine spent two weeks recording her own album - a mix of originals and covers - in a studio on Russell’s farm in Australia. “My album, which doesn’t have a name yet, will be out in December,” she says.

Lorraine has enjoyed a lot of publicity after her famous bandmate gave her shout-outs on several high-profile platforms.

“Russell has done a lot of promo work and has dropped my name on a lot of well-known shows in Australia shows such as Sunrise TV and some massive radio shows. He has given some descriptions of what I’m about and my style, and described me as ‘the Irish Bonnie Raitt’, which I’m very proud of.”

Lorraine has also had the chance to perform live with some of the biggest names in show business recently.

“We sang in Sydney Opera House, we heard Michael Bublé was in town and might join us on stage. I was singing with Russell and I saw the door opening and a silhouette coming through, and I just thought ‘Oh my God Michael Buble is in the house!’ Ten minutes later he jumped up and joined us on stage. He was really lovely, I wasn’t sure how he was going to be in person, but he is everything like he is on TV, he is really nice and enjoyed getting stuck in.

“The next day Rita Ora jumped up on stage and sang Valerie, which was also an amazing experience.

“I also performed with RZA from Wu Tang Clan. He joined us on stage and did some freestyling and he was standing right beside me, so it was great to be rubbing shoulders with someone like him.”
