Belated Premiere
#4 Cavan Arts Festival highlight
Philip Doherty famously put County Cavan at the heart of his multi-award winning movie 'Redemption of a Rogue'. However, it was Philip's Dad Mel who first unleashed a camera crew in his beloved Breffni County.
Mel and his unlikely collaborator Fr Turlough O’Reilly scored a bit of a cult classic with ‘Mulligan’s Millions’, and then set about plotting a heist movie for their sequel - 'Meddlar Mulligan'. Set in Cavan town in the early 1970s it stars Mel as the mischievous Mulligan, alongside a host of his pals. Somehow 'Meddlar Mulligan' was never screened... until now.
Fully restored, it will get its belated premiere roughly half a century since the film first rolled.
For a little bit of cinematic history, head along to Townhall Theatre on Friday, May 19 at 7pm.
