Popular Cavan town bar lady passes away
A much loved former bar lady in Cavan Town has sadly passed away.
Peggy Brady (nee Naughton), of 4 St Phelim's Place, Cavan Town and formerly Curraghboy, Co Roscommon, was hugely popular with all who frequented the Abbey Bar over the decades.
A dedicated and popular member of the Abbey team, she seemingly defied the passage of time and continued to work shifts at the Coleman Road premises right into her 90s.
The volume of well wishers for her 100th birthday in 2021 was a measure of the love in which she was held by the Cavan Town community and beyond.
RIP.ie report that Peggy sadly passed away today, Tuesday, May 16, peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff at St. Joseph's, Lisdarn, Cavan, in her 103rd year.
Predeceased by her husband Joseph, son Francie and daughters Dympna and Barbara. Peggy will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by all her family, sons Gerard and Kieran, daughter Marion Leahy (Jessie), adored grandchildren Paula, Deborah, Audrey, Gerard and David, her 9 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces, all her relatives and many, many friends.
May she rest in peace
Reposing at her home on Wednesday from 2pm until 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 11am to the Cathedral of SS. Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30am. After Mass the cortege will travel to Cullies Cemetery for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. Peggy's Funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish website www.cavantownparish.com/webcam
