Dry day with spells of hazy sunshine later

Weather update from Met Éireann

Mostly dry today with spells of hazy sunshine developing. Cloud will build across Connacht and Munster later in the afternoon and evening, bringing patchy outbreaks of rain or drizzle to Atlantic coastal areas. Highest temperatures generally ranging from 13 to 17 degrees, warmest in the midlands, in mainly light southeasterly breezes.

Staying generally dry tonight, although patchy outbreaks of rain or drizzle may continue in western and northwestern coastal areas early in the night. Lowest temperatures of around 7 to 10 degrees in mainly light southeasterly breezes.

Dry and largely cloudy tomorrow, although occasional spells of hazy sunshine will develop, especially towards the east of the country. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees. Mainly light to moderate southeasterly breezes, turning fresher in the southwest.

Dry at first on Wednesday night, although outbreaks of rain will push in to much of the southwest by morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate easterly breezes.

Turning more unsettled for the rest of the week with occasional spells of rain or showers.

Thursday is expected cloudy with outbreaks of rain gradually extending northeastwards across the country. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light to moderate easterly or southeasterly breezes.

Outbreaks of rain will linger in many areas overnight on Thursday, remaining most persistent in the west. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in very light southerly breezes.

Friday will see a dull and damp start to the day with outbreaks of rain continuing to affect much of the country. By the afternoon however, the most persistent rain will clear northwards with a mix of sunny spells and showers following from the south. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in light southerly breezes.

Generally cloudy on Saturday with further outbreaks of rain for much of the day, possibly turning heavy in places. Highest temperatures of around 12 to 15 degrees in light easterly or variable breezes.

Remaining largely cloudy on Sunday. Many areas may have a dry start, although further outbreaks of rain are expected later in the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in light south to southwest breezes.

Considerable uncertainty remains for the further outlook. Current indications are that it will remain unsettled into the early days of next week.
