Mixed weather conditions in the days ahead

Mixed weather with some occasional outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Milder and possibly brighter this weekend. That's the latest weather outlook from the national weather forecaster.

Some sunny spells to start over the eastern half of the country this morning with mostly cloudy conditions elsewhere, along with patchy light rain or showers. Becoming mostly cloudy with limited sunny spells for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures will range 9 to 14 degrees in light southeasterly breezes.

Mostly dry under broken cloud tonight with patchy rain over northern parts, with a touch of frost under clearer skies. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in light easterly breezes.

Mostly cloudy on Thursday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle slowly feeding up from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees, in light east to southeast breezes.

Patches of rain early, becoming mainly confined to western coasts overnight on Thursday with clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in light variable breezes. Some mist or shallow fog patches too.

Scattered showers will largely affect the western half of the country on Friday with the best the bright or sunny spells further east. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in just light southerly breezes.

Clear spells on Friday night give way to mostly cloudy conditions building from the west, along with outbreaks of rain. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with winds falling light and variable.

A mostly cloudy start to Saturday with patchy rain or drizzle, followed by sunny spells breaking out later on in the day. Warm with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees, with light to moderate westerly winds.

Current indications suggest that the rest of the bank holiday weekend will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers. Mild with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with very light southerly breezes.
