Tributes paid to the late Craig Breen

The rally driving community have united in tribute to the late Craig Breen.

Teammates, competitors and other tour officials gathered in sombre respect of the "talented and much adored" rally driver ahead of the event taking place in Croatia where, just a week before, Craig lost his life following a crash in practice.

James Fulton, Breen’s co-driver from Co Cavan, was not injured in the incident at the FIA World Rally Championship stage.

In a post on social media, his teammates at Hyundai Motorsport GmbH (HMSG) wrote: "Craig you are hugely missed".

At the ceremonial start of rally leg in Croatia, friends, fans, and competitors all gathered to pay tribute to the Waterford driver with a minute applause in place of the Irishman’s start position in Zagreb.

Hyundai Motorsport GmbH (HMSG) are competing in this week's event "in memory of Craig, to his passion for rallying. It will be emotional weekend but let’s try to make the most of it."

The team have also adopted the hastag #ForCraig for the weekend's racing.
