Exhibition shows a care-giver's response

A wonderful solo exhibition by Irish artist and poet is set to be launched this evening.

Solas Art Gallery will host the work of Maria Noonan-McDermott for the next three weeks.

‘Time-Lapse’ is the culmination of an ongoing project that Noonan-McDermott has been working on for a number of years and is inspired by her own personal experiences as a caregiver for her mother living with Alzheimer's. In this new touring exhibition, Maria explores the complexities of time, memory and loss in a series of new paintings, original poetry and installations. Maria's work will be displayed throughout the two-storey gallery. A warm and welcoming atmosphere is promised, refreshments will be served upon arrival.

The exhibition will be officially opened by fellow Leitrim artist Louis McLoughlin on Friday April 21 at 7.30pm.

There is an open invitation for the public to head along on the night, or indeed anytime between then and the closing date of Saturday, May 13.

Solas Art Gallery is located above the Four Seasons Garden Centre on Main Street Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, N41 D2X3. The gallery is open from 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday.
