Mostly dry and sunny day ahead, some showers

Weather update from Met Éireann

High pressure largely dominating through the rest of the working week bringing generally dry and settled conditions. Becoming more unsettled by the weekend. That's according to the latest bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

Low cloud, mist and fog will clear most places this morning giving way to a mostly dry and sunny day with just a slight chance of showers. Moderate easterly breezes will keep temperatures in the east between 11 and 15 degrees, but reaching 16 to 18 degrees further west.

Mostly dry and clear tonight in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes. Mist and fog will be much less widespread compared with previous nights but isolated patches could still occur. Cloud will increase in the east and south towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees generally, dipping lower locally.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be a cloudier day overall, but sunny spells will still occur in most parts, especially through the later afternoon and evening. It'll be largely dry again, with just the chance of an odd light shower. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in mostly moderate easterly breezes, fresh at times near the south coast.

A few showers will affect southern and southwestern counties on Wednesday night, but it will stay dry elsewhere with long clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in mostly moderate easterly winds, fresh at times near the south coast.

Dry and sunny to begin on Thursday with some fair-weather cloud bubbling up during the afternoon. Feeling cool though in the mostly moderate easterly winds which will be fresh to strong along the south coast. Top temperatures ranging 11 to 14 or 15 degrees, highest in the west.

Mostly dry and clear on Thursday night with lowest temperatures between 2 and 6 degrees with light to moderate northeast breezes.

Many areas will be dry with spells of sunshine to begin on Friday. Cloud will tend to increase through the morning with some patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures will range 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.

Friday night should be mostly cloudy in the east and south with patchy rain and drizzle. Drier and clearer for a time in the west and northwest but cloud increasing here too overnight. Lows of 4 to 8 degrees, coldest under the clearer breaks in the west and northwest in light to moderate northeast breezes.

Current indications for Saturday suggest a mostly cloudy day with showers or longer spells of rain. Rather cool with highs of 9 to 13 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.

Further Outlook: Remaining rather cool in a northerly airflow with rain or showers gradually clearing southeastwards through Sunday and early Monday.
