Gruaig Nua - Cavan’s newest hair salon

New business, new name, new Cavan Town premises - same popular hair stylist at the helm.

Since Gruaig Nua on Connolly Street opened in February word has rapidly spread of Edel Hennessy’s new salon and they have been inundated with clients.

Edel has been heartened by the support she has received from loyal customers from her previous business, and new clients eager to try out the town’s latest salon.

Still only 28, Edel has already amassed six years of experience running her own business having been one half of Luxe the Experience based in Farnham Arms Hotel.

Edel is joined in Gruaig Nua by Cavan Town’s Ellen O’Reilly, a highly regarded senior stylist with six years’ experience. Completing the talented team is apprentice stylist Katelyn Smyth from Belturbet. This move to Connolly Street gives the Gruiag Nua team the prominence their talents deserve.

“I really wanted a shop front on Cavan’s main street. This premises came available and it suited me perfectly. It’s cosy and welcoming.”

Edel is delighted to have complimentary business Karla Jane Make-Up located in the premises’ third floor, and in future they would be delighted to grow their beauty team.

Access couldn’t be easier as there is ample parking space in the Egg Market.

Over the last six years Edel has also established herself as one of the most sought-after stylists for bridal parties. Edel Hennessy Bridal Hair will continue providing her expertise for brides across the region, and you can book through Gruaig Nua.

In addition to wedding styles, Edel specialises in balayage and occasion hair - she is renowned for her up-styles.

“My Fridays and Saturdays, if I’m not doing a wedding I’m booked-out months in advance for up-styles and my popular boho blow-drys.”

Her team is in hot demand for boho blow-drys.

Cavan Town boasts 20-plus hairdressers, yet Edel has attracted more than her fair share of loyal customers. This success is first and foremost due to the exquisite level of service provided, but a major factor is also the Castlerahan native’s friendly manner. Conversation flows easily with bubbly Edel.

“Conversations we have with our clients are so personal and create a great friendship level with them. Yes, we have clients who want to come in and chill for a silent few hours, we love them as much as the rest,” says Edel.

“I’m eager to ensure everyone goes home happy. Fab hair and even better chats. I think that’s what make Gruaig Nua different from the rest.

“I can’t thank my family, friends enough for getting Gruaig Nua open. So grateful.”
