Showery fun days ahead but temperatures to hit 16 degrees

Weather update from Met Éireann

Generally unsettled with rain and showers at times. Temperatures generally around or above average for the time of year. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Rain will clear away to the north and east this morning, followed by sunny spells and isolated showers. Some showers will be heavy with thunderstorms and hail possible later in the afternoon and evening, especially in the north midlands and east Ulster. Mild with highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, easing later.

Clear spells tonight with showers or longer spells of rain. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, coldest in the north and northeast. Mist and isolated fog patches will form in mostly moderate south to southeast winds.

A mix of cloudy and some sunny spells with widespread showers tomorrow, St Patrick's Day. The showers will be heavy and prolonged at times with a chance of thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in mostly moderate south to southeast winds, decreasing light later.

Some clear spells overnight on Friday but largely cloudy with scattered showers, some still heavy. Later in the night, outbreaks of rain will move in over parts of the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees. Mist and fog patches will form in light breezes. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds will develop on Atlantic coasts later as the rain arrives.

A wet morning on Saturday with widespread outbreaks of rain, largely clearing eastwards through the morning and early afternoon. Most areas becoming dry with some sunny spells, but showery rain will affect much Ulster. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times in the northwest.

Dry with clear spells on Saturday night for most though showery rain will continue in parts of Ulster. Cloud will build from the west later. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times along northern coasts.

A cloudy day on Sunday with outbreaks of rain developing in the southwest, gradually extending across the country, reaching the northeast towards evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees. Light to moderate westerly winds will back southerly in the afternoon. Overnight, the rain will turn heavy at times. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, mildest in the southwest, in mostly moderate southerly winds.

Dull and wet at first on Monday, with rain tracking northeastwards, followed by sunny spells and widespread showers, heavy at times with thunderstorms possible. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds.

Further Outlook: Current indications suggest that low pressure will continue to dominate our weather bringing further spells of rain and showers but with good dry periods as well. Highest temperatures generally ranging from 8 to 12 degrees.
