One IDA site visit in nine months

In the first nine months of last year, Cavan played host to one multinational company considering setting up a base in the Breffni county.

This compares to three visits to Cavan by Foreign Direct Investment leads for all of 2021, at at time when Covid restrictions were beginning to lift. Neighbouring Monaghan had three visits last year, and two the year before.

In response to Covid, IDA migrated many of its business development and client engagement activities to digital platforms during 2020. Since the ending of public health restrictions, in-person site visits have resumed.

The figures include both in person and e-site visits per county.

Only Meath, Mayo and Wicklow had as low a number of FDI visits to the end of Q3, 2022 as Cavan did.

Leitrim, which had one visit for all of 2021, had two up to the end of September 2022, and Longford had five. Longford had zero visits in 2021.

Last year Cavan welcomed the announcement that California-based company Ultra Clean Holdings would create 100 new jobs as it establishes an Advanced Technology Cleaning Centre (ATCC) in Cavan.

Dublin had the highest number of FDI visits with 164 in the first nine months of last year.

The figures were released by the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
