Community stands with Michelle in ‘Fearless Fight’
A MOTHER’S determination to spend as much time with her children as possible rallied the community to extraordinary lengths. ‘Michelle’s Fearless Fight Against Cancer’ is a campaign that raised a staggering €190,000 in just three days. Over 1,500 donors had contributed to the cause of Michelle Woods from Ballyjamesduff, now living in Killeshandra.

Memorial unveiled to Sam Donegan
RETIRED army Private Patsy Walsh remembered the bomb blast, which claimed the life of Inspector Sam Donegan, and seriously wounded patrol leader, Lt John Gallagher. To this day he can still see in his mind’s eye the mottled green of that quiet border laneway, hear the immediate “whoosh” and feel the heat of that unanticipated eruption, only to relive the deathly quiet that followed.
Popular Corlough teen is third person killed on Cavan’s roads
Communities across West Cavan and the surrounding region are united in mourning following the death of 17-year-old Luke Byrne. The teenager tragically lost his life following a crash on the N3 at Kilnalack on June 9. “No words can express the grief,” said Corlough GFC in a post shared on social media.
Master Plan for Killykeen
KILLYKEEN is poised to return to its former glory as one of the major tourist attractions for the region The Anglo-Celt revealed. The council was set to develop a master plan for the forest park to enhance facilities and attract visitors from across the region to the beauty spot. While still in its infancy, the plan promises to map out ambitious proposals similar to those that saw the Cavan Burren developed into one of the region’s premier tourist attractions.

Former IRA prisoner Pearse McAuley was released from Castlerea prison having served time for a brutal attack on is former wife.
“I wish he was still in but I have to accept he’s served his sentence,” said Pauline Tully, now Sinn Féin TD for Cavan Monaghan.
