Personal highlight for 2022?
Winning the All-Ireland storytelling in the Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar. Playing Cinderella in the panto at Town Hall Theatre was also an amazing experience with a great bunch of people (see pic right).
Best live show?
I actually saw it late last year but Gina Moxley’s Danti Dani stuck with me all year. It was totally captivating and Venetia Bowe’s portrayal of Cactus blew me away. It’s back in Cavan Town Hall in late January, 2023.
TV/cinema highlight?
Philip Doherty’s Redemption of a Rogue dropped on Netflix in January 2022. It has a special Cavan charm and, if you haven’t already seen it, shame on you!
Favourite book?
Antóin Mac Gabhann’s book and CD, ‘Ceol agus Spraoi’ in October.
The CD, with many old recordings of musicians since passed away, including some of my ancestors, is a treat. It’s a real keepsake for trad enthusiasts!
One to watch?
Martha Spring from Butlersbridge. She played one of the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella alongside me. Watch out for her in Grease in March 2023!
Wish for 2023?
It’s hard to think about anything past Leaving Cert but, if I do get a place in college, I would love to sign up with some agencies and audition for some parts on stage and screen.
