Christmas Market on the Square
The outdoor event was first held up in 2020 as a way of uniting the community through the tough Covid restrictions.
Ballyjamesduff is set to get a festive facelift next week as a Christmas market takes over the town square.
“We’re really looking forward to it, it’s always a nice opportunity to get together as a community and obviously we love to see some new faces there as well,” says event organiser, Claire Willis, enthusiastically.
The outdoor event was first held up in 2020 as a way of uniting the community through the tough Covid restrictions.
“This will be our third Christmas. We originally set it up as a Covid response measure, we wanted to create an outdoor social space where people could meet up over the holidays for you know the opportunity to support local businesses and you know chat outdoors.”
The market proved so successful it resulted in it been held countless times throughout the whole year.
“It has just grown from there. We do them one to twice a month throughout the Spring and Summer and then we go weekly in the run up to Christmas.”
The event is set to have a range of produce and crafts, mainly produced locally by the people of Ballyjamesduff.
“We do try and put a priority on local craft makers. There are quite a lot of people based in Ballyjamesduff that will show their crafts or their art. We also have homemade wax melts, soaps, and really great gifts.
“We have a lot of upcyclers as well, so basically upcycling old furniture or reusing various items to make household ornaments. They’re sustainable and kind of DIY.”
The market will also see food and drink stands of all sorts, which are sure to tantalise your tastebuds while you browse the beautiful stands.
The markets will be on the town square from 4-8pm on December 9, 16 and 23.
