Local friesian breeders club to celebrate 50 years
Breffni/Oriel Holstein Friesian Club celebrates Golden Anniversary
All roads lead to Hotel Kilmore Cavan this evening (Friday) for the 50th Anniversary dinner of Breffni/Oriel Holstein Friesian Club. The club was established in October 1972 with a view to promoting the Black and White breed in the Cavan/Monaghan area.
Down through the years it has hosted many activities- shows and sales, stock- judging events, workshops and club tours both at home and abroad. It also formed the Young Members Association in 1991 with a view to encouraging the next generation of young farmers and breeders. Events such as our Annual Calf show where every year the winners progressed to the All Ireland Show finals with many successes namely Champion Calf and Champion Handler on many occasions.
Many of these occasions for young and old have brought together in a 50th Anniversary booklet which will be for sale on the night and with no doubt will bring back fond memories of the events in the past.
Music on the night will be by Temptations and tickets are available from any committee member.
