Do not consume notices lifted for two group water schemes
'Do not consume water' restriction notices have this afternoon been lifted for consumers served by two local group water schemes.
The two schemes deemed safe again, with immediate effect, are Barraghy/Farmoyle Group Water Scheme and Dernakesh Group Water Scheme.
The decisions to lift the restriction notices were in both cases made by Cavan County Council following consultation with the Health Services Executive (HSE).
In both instances, a County Council spokesperson advised:
"The water is now safe for use and can be used for drinking and food preparation.
"Please note that if your internal/domestic water system has been in general use throughout the period of the notice you may now use your water supply as normal. If water systems have not been in use for the duration of the notice, consumers should ensure that they flush out their systems by running their hot and cold taps for a period of at least thirty minutes before resuming normal use of the water supply."
