Autumn Memorabilia and Collectables Sale

Pub and Guinness memorabilia, as well as retro signage, are among a number of items to go under the hammer next week is a special sale to be hosted by Victor Mee Auctions, based in Cloverhill.

Taking place on live online on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 18-19, the Autumn Memorabilia and Collectables Sale will see bidders compete to get their hands on some incredibly unique and interesting lots of pub memorabilia, advertising, collectables and retro signage.

The catalogue for the sale is jam-packed with something to suit every type of buyer, whether you’re simply looking to spruce up the home bar for some festive shenanigans or kitting out a venue with some note-worthy pieces. Collectors of breweriana are in for a big treat as 100 pieces of Guinness memorabilia will go under the hammer alongside many other stunning pieces of nostalgia from iconic brands.

The Autumn Memorabilia and Collectables Sale features a hugely impressive collection of antique stoneware and ginger beer bottles from one private collector. Lot 199, in particular, is a very rare example - a W J Dunwoody MPSI Ballybay stoneware bottle that goes to auction with an estimate of €100-€180.

Collectors of enamel signage will also be pleased as the sale includes a huge private collection of enamel signs consigned to the Victor Mee Auctions team and exclusively held back for this event. Lot 175; a rare ‘You Can't Beat Mick McQuaid’ Tobacco enamel advertising sign is just one example of the calibre of the lots appearing in the catalogue.

The auction house has also been consigned with an extremely rare and incredibly old whiskey in the form of lot 307: A bottle of George Roe Irish Whiskey, 16 Years Old Distilled and bottled by the Dublin Distillers Company Ltd. This incredibly rare Irish single malt was distilled some time before 1923 at a distillery that has been closed for nearly a century. The bottle goes forth with an estimate of €3,000-€6,000.

Lot 282 is a spectacular pair of 19th Century Power's Whiskey pillar framed advertising mirrors with Celtic lettering. Measuring an impressive 198cm tall, these mirrors are incredibly rare to the market and come with an estimate of €8,000-€12,000. They are already garnering huge interest from bidders and are sure to be one of the star lots of the auction.

The sale takes Victor Mee Auctions back to some of the auctioneer’s long-standing specialities and the saleroom is dressed to impress.
