Gardaí investigate north Westmeath assaults

Gardai have launched an investigation following an alleged assault in Castlepollard at the weekend.

The alleged assault occurred at around 5pm on Saturday evening in a car parked outside Castlepollard Garda Station. A member of the public contacted gardaí after witnessing a male allegedly assault a female.

A suspect was identified and a file is currently being prepared for the DPP.

Clonmellon assault

A male was assaulted in Clonmellon on Saturday morning last after confronting two men who males who had entered his yard.

Gadaí are appealing for anyone who many have noticed anything suspicious in the Clonmellon area between nine and 11am on Saturdy morning to contact Mullingar station.
