Plan seeks to enhance security in our rural areas.
A new Rural Safety Plan 2022-2024, launched at the Ploughing Championships in Co. Laois earlier today, has been welcomed locally.
Former Minister for Agriculture and Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Brendan Smith welcomed the launch of the Rural Safety Plan 2022-2024 by his party colleague Minister of State James Browne.
The Plan brings together and strengthens all of the various strands of work being carried out in relation to rural safety. In demonstrating and highlighting the collaborative efforts made by An Garda Síochána, other State bodies, the Rural Safety Forum, community groups, and supported by the Government, the Plan seeks to enhance security in our rural areas and enforces the importance that is rightfully placed on the welfare of rural Irish communities.
Commenting on the plan Deputy Brendan Smith said: "I'm delighted to see this rural safety plan which has a strong vision to ensure rural people feel safe in their homes, their communities and where they work."
He said the Fianna Fáil party is committed to breeding new life into rural Ireland while ensuring rural people feel safe in their day to day life.
