Leona tied fourth going into final round
Cavan golfer tees off at 3pm Irish time
Leona Maguire goes into the final round at the Dana Open in Ohio keenly positioned having scored her second round of 66 for the week and ending the penultimate day tied fourth.
The course is familiar hunting ground for the star Irish golfer who made an international name for herself following her European team Solheim Cup heroics in nearby Toledo
Leona ended today (Saturday) -5 to get to -11 overall, and now sits behind American Lucy Li (-14) at the top of the leaderboard, followed by her country compatriot Lexi Thompson and German Caroline Masson on -13.
Li (19) earlier this year earned her LPGA Tour card for 2023.
Ballyconnell native Leona meanwhile is tied -11 alongside six others- Japan's Nasa Hataoka, Australians Hannah Green and Lydia Ko, Chinese golfers Yin Ruoning and Lin Xiyu, and Korean Kim Sei-young.
Leona played her way into contention with some excellent golf, with a series of strong pars, augmented by scoring birdies, back to back at holes 3 and 4, and an important point scorer at 16.
Earlier this week Leona had found the course tricky in parts, but pulled it out of the bag at all the right moments to continue to keep sights on the leading pack.
She'll tee off tomorrow at around 3pm GMT.
