Wind and rain ahead for weekend

Met Éireann is warning of wet and windy weather this weekend, with possible disruption.

It’s issued a weather advisory, one step down from an official warning.

Valid from 7pm on Friday to 7pm on Monday, the forecaster says the weather is likely to take a turn for the worse.

Heavy showers are expected over Friday night and Saturday, with wind and heavy showers again on Saturday night and into Sunday.

The rain will gradually clear northwards on Sunday morning.

The UK Met Office meanwhile has already issued a yellow warning for all of Northern Ireland for Saturday. It says there will be “occasional periods of heavy rain through Saturday”, which may lead to travel disruption.
