Tour of Moybologue old graveyard

As part of Heritage Week, a tour has been planned of the old graveyard in Moybologue.

The event takes place later today, Saturday, August 20, from 2-3pm.

The old graveyard near Bailieborough was previously surveyed in July 2017 by Moybologue Historical Society and community volunteers as a community-led heritage survey, under the supervision and guidance of John Tierney of Eachtra Archaeological Projects Ltd. and the historicgraves.ie website.

A generous financial donation to enable the survey project was received from local man Matt Carolan, now living in the USA, but formerly from the townland of Srahan beside the graveyard.

Conservation work was carried out to surviving Church wall ruins and roadside boundary wall between October 2020 and April 2021, with funding from the Community Monuments Fund 2020, Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government.
