Urgent appeal to take in abandoned kittens
The Cavan Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is urgently appealing to homeowners to take in unwanted kittens as it has been “inundated” with stray and unwanted cats and kittens.
A spokesperson said: “We are getting six to seven calls a day from the public about kittens and cats turning up in various states of health and, while we try to help, it is impossible to take in every cat as we just don’t have the space or fosterers available.”
Volunteers are currently fostering a number of adorable kittens, ranging in age from two to three months old, who are seeking their forever homes.
They are being described as “funny and mischievous” and make “great family pets”.
They are also litter tray trained.
If you think you could provide a loving forever home for any of these kittens, please contact 086 1500320
Anyone wishing to adopt an animal from the SPCA must be able to provide food, warmth and shelter.
They must also agree to neuter when kittens reach six months.
The public need to take responsibility and get their cats spayed or neutered
Cavan SPCA run a cat neuter scheme, in conjunction with local vets across the county, twice a year, in March and October, to try to alleviate the situation.
