Delight as missing golf clubs are found

There's some good news as local golfer Leona Maguire's golf clubs have been found.

The Ballyconnell woman had flown to Switzerland to take part in the Amundi Evian Championship this week but her golf clubs never arrived.

She flew from Dublin to Geneve yesterday but was forced to take to Twitter to launch an appeal to Dublin Airport, Swiss Airlines and its handling company, Swissport, in a bid to locate her clubs.

ā€œReally need help from someone in Dublin Airport or DAAā€, she said in a message to followers.

ā€œFlew from Dublin to Geneva yesterday direct and somehow my golf bag has gone missing between check in and takeoff.ā€

One Twitter user suggested a new set of clubs being sent to her ahead of the start of the competition but Maguire said it canā€™t be done.

ā€œHave already asked and been told they canā€™t be sent in time. This isnā€™t the menā€™s tour where thereā€™s club tour vans on-site every week unfortunately.ā€

There's some good news this afternoon though as the missing clubs are understood to be making their way to Switzerland after being found in Dublin Airport.
