Covid cases continue to rise at Cavan General
New figure is more than double the number last week.
New Covid cases at Cavan General Hospital continue to rise, according to the latest update available from the HSE.
As of Monday last, July 4, there were 22 confirmed Covid cases with close to a quarter of those admitted over the previous four hours.
The figure is more than double the number of Covid patients at the hospital compared to the same period last week.
However, the hospital at the time was experiencing “high levels” of patient activity, with referrals to the Cavan General's Emergency Department urged to explore other treatment options “as a priority” where possible.
That level of demand has since abated, however Covid numbers at the hospital have crept steadily upwards over the past week, peaking on Monday.
According to the Covid Tracker app, Cavan has registered 278 new confirmed cases of infection over the past two weeks, with 235 in Monaghan, 141 in Leitrim, 182 in Longford, and 941 in Meath.
