Fifteen new homes in Ballinagh near completion
The €3.3 million housing project on the Cavan Road outside Ballinagh is nearing completion.
A total of 15 new social housing units are being built- a mix of two, three, and four-bed properties- by local construction firm, Sandar Construction.
The units replace three derelict properties which once occupied the site.
It is expected the new homes will be allocated and even occupied by the end of 2022.
The Ballinagh housing investment is one of 14 such developments dotted throughout the county bringing an additional 269 units into the council's housing stock over the coming years.
Other projects include 25 housing units to be delivered at Drumalee Manor in Cavan Town, six new social houses by local contractor Crosserlough Construction in Butlersbridge, and the restoration and deep energy retrofit of vacant units at John Paul Avenue, Cavan Town, by local contractor Hyland Construction.
On a recent visit to Cavan, Minister for Housing, Darragh O'Brien travelled to the Ballinagh construction site where he met with Sandar officials, and praised the effort by the local authority in directing the delivery of much needed social housing across a variety of schemes.
“Housing for All, puts a significant emphasis on projects such as these and we will deliver 90,000 new social home between now and 2030 all across the country. It’s particularly welcome to see the big focus on retrofitting and bringing vacant social homes back into use and I highly commend Cavan County Council for the work they are doing in this regard.”
