Pre-extension refurbishment approval for Dún an Rí
Refurbishment works are associated with the major extension approved for Cólaiste Dún an Rí.
Approval has been granted to carry out refurbishment works in advance of addressing the immediate school needs and the provision of additional permanent accommodation at Cólaiste Dún an Rí in Kingscourt.
The latest investment was signed off by Minister for Education, Norma Foley, who confirmed the approval to her colleague, Cavan-Monaghan TD, Brendan Smith.
The proposed refurbishment works are associated with the major extension approved for Cólaiste Dún an Rí due to increasing student enrolment.
It also comes almost 12 months to day after Coláiste Dún an Rí was given the go-ahead for a new extension to cope with the massive student in-take experienced since first opening its doors back in 2016.
“This is a further advance in addressing the immediate school needs and the provision of additional permanent accommodation,” said Deputy Smith.
He added his praise for local representative Councillor Clifford Kelly, and said that the commitment of investment to date showed “a very strong vote of confidence in the long term future of second level education in Kingscourt.”
