Plan to put footbridge over Blackwater
Plans for a pedestrian and cycle bridge across the River Blackwater, linking Balmoral Industrial Estate to Blackwater Park have been lodged with Meath County Council.
Foxtrot Investments 2011 Limited is seeking permission for a pedestrian/cycle bridge crossing the River Blackwater which would be 93.6 metres in length and four metres wide.
The bridge will provide for a shared pedestrian and cycle access extending from permitted footpath and cycle infrastructure at Balmoral Industrial Estate at the southern part of the site, spanning the watercourse and connecting to existing pedestrian and cycle network in the Blackwater Public Park, on the northern side of the site.
The proposal includes safety balustrades and lighting, all infrastructure, landscaping, access and associated site development works to enable the development. A Natura Impact Statement is to be submitted to the planning authority with the application.
Last year, Foxtrot Investments was granted planning permission for a landmark development on the southern side of the River Blackwater.
The proposal includes a six-storey high apartment and retail building at Balmoral Industrial Park on the Kells Road, with 63 ‘build to rent’ apartments and a discount supermarket on the site. The large site in the Balmoral Industrial Estate along the Kells Road was recently cleared. There has been permission for development on the site for some time.
