Application to rebrand Ballyconnell bank

Permanent TSB has applied for permission to rebrand the Ulster Bank branch in Ballyconnell.

The branch is one of two that PTSB is to take over following Ulster Bank’s announcement that it’s to leave the Irish market.

The branch in Cavan Town is to close, with those in Ballyconnell and Ballyjamesduff to rebrand.

PTSB has applied to Cavan County Council for permission to erect signs with its name on the building, which is a protected structure.

It hopes to fit of new branded signage onto the existing shopfront, replace the existing ATM with new one in the same location and install two internal digital marketing LED screens which would be viewed from outside through the existing glazing.

Some minor internal works are planned including the installation of banking machines and ATMS.

Sited on Main Street in Ballyconnell and built in the Tudor revival style in the early 1900s, the building has housed a bank since it was first constructed. The building is now listed as a protected structure, necessitating the planning permission for the new signs.

A decision is expected from Cavan County Council by July 7.
