Warning after local motorists found drink driving
The Easter weekend is seeing a focus on road safety.
Gardaí have issued a warning after a number of local drivers were caught drink or drug driving over recent days.
Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority earlier this week issued advice and warnings ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Speed checks carried out on the N3 at Butlersbridge yesterday saw adriver stopped for speeding and they subsequently failed a roadside drug test after testing positive for cannabis.
A Garda spokesperson says they were arrested and blood samples were taken for further testing. A fine was issued for the speeding offence.
Separately, another driver failed the roadside breath test when they were stopped on the N55. They have been charged and are expected to appear at a coming sitting of the district court.
