There are few settings in County Cavan quite as romantic and idyllic as the Crover House Hotel near Mountnugent.

Set on the banks of Lough Sheelin, this four-star country house hotel has that wow factor for your special wedding day.

The property has undergone major refurbishment and investment in recent years, bringing it right up to date in terms of decor and facilities.

Aideen Duffy is head of marketing at the Crover and says 2022 is their busiest year to date. "It is great to be able to do weddings again with no restrictions," she remarks.

Advancing bookings for 2023 and 2023 are also looking "very promising".

The team at Crover House Hotel are noticing a trend of smaller, more intimate weddings post lockdown.

"Since the restrictions have been lifted, couples are most definitely in wedding planning mode. We are seeing smaller weddings certainly. However, I think this is to do with Covid. People are still very conscious that Covid is still out there," surmises Aideen.

While the hotel does cater for civil ceremonies on site, Aideen finds the majority of wedding receptions are still Church weddings.

For the reception itself, the Arley Suite provides panoramic views of the estate and Lough Sheelin.

A number of comprehensive wedding packages are available to suit various budgets and tastes, though these are flexible.

The Crover operates a one wedding per day policy and all packages include some items for which other hotels charge extra such as the red carpet, cake stand and knife etc. Included as standard also are a glass of bubbles and nibbles for your guests on arrival, use of candy cart and jars, and an evening buffet, as well as complementary bar extension and discounted accommodation options for guests.

The newly weds will stay in the fabulous Sheelin honeymoon suite.

In terms of novelty entertainment trends, Aideen says couples are always looking for an original idea, though items like photo booths are still popular.

"Couples always want something different that hasn't been done before. They are always asking us for new ideas in terms of favours, drinks, cocktails, entertainment. Couples want to put more thought into the smaller details," finds Aideen.
