Oireachtas committee to hear of hospitality shortages

Representatives from the hospitality and tourism sector to discuss working conditions and skills shortages when they meet the Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media this afternoon.
The Committee will hear submissions from the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Irish Hotels Federation, and Fáilte Ireland.
The Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media is chaired by local TD, Fianna Fail's Niamh Smyth.
Speaking ahead of the meeting at 1:30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House Committee, Deputy Smyth said: “We look forward to meeting with the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Irish Hotels Federation and Fáilte Ireland to discuss the impact that current skills shortages and working conditions are having on this vital sector. It is important that the Committee hears first-hand from representatives on these issues, and in particular around industry suggestions for possible solutions.”

The Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
