Geopark visitor warning with high winds forecast
The warning is valid until 6am on Thursday morning, April 7.
Visitors to the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark have been warned to “avoid wooded areas, sites with trees and areas on high ground” following an updated Status Yellow wind warning for the region.
“Very strong southwest winds veering west to northwest today (Wednesday) will persist through until Thursday morning,” forecast Met Eireann. “Winds will be strongest at the coast with some severe gusts along with a possibility of wave overtopping. Hazardous driving conditions are expected in exposed areas.”
The warning is valid until 6am on Thursday morning, April 7.
The British Met Office have also issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds from this evening, through to early tomorrow morning for Fermanagh.
It has prompted the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark to urge any visitors to “avoid wooded areas, sites with trees and areas on high ground within the Geopark.”
