Garda seriously injured overnight

A member of An Garda Síochána has been hospitalised following an serious incident near Blacklion has night.

Forensic teams are currently at the scene in West Cavan where the male member of the force was found.

Gardaí are also investigating whether the garda may have had petrol thrown on him.

Gardaí have yet to issue a formal statement in relation to the incident. However the Celt understands the man is currently being treated for injuries at Sligo General Hospital.

No further details are available at this time, but gardaí are expected to issue a full statement soon.
