€17K worth of suspected cannabis herb seized in Ballinagh
Gardaí have arrested a man in his mid 20s following the seizure of €17,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb in the Ballinagh area today.
Shortly before 10am this Thursday morning (January 20,) members of the Cavan Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a house in the Ballinagh area with the assistance of local Gardai and the ASU.
During the course of the search an estimated €17,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb was discovered and seized along with a small quantity of cocaine.
The drugs seized are subject to analysis.
A man in his mid 20s was arrested at the scene. He was detained but has since been released without charge.
A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
This seizure was made under Operation Tara an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on July 2, 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
