ANC payments to be made this week
Balancing payments under the 2021 Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme are to be paid from today.
The Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue has confirmed the €239 million in payments will make their way to 95,000 farmers across the country.
Locally, 4,399 in County Cavan are to receive €10,377,076.63.
The scheme provides payments to people farming land in areas that are designated as being disadvantaged. It aims to mitigate against the additional costs incurred in trying to farm the land.
Payments will continue to be made regularly under the 2021 scheme as further cases are cleared by the Department.
Minister McConalogue has said that over €1.53 billion has been paid out by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine since September under the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS); ANC; Green, Low-Carbon Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS); Targeted Agricultural Moderisation Scheme (TAMS); Organic Farming Scheme, Young Farmer Scheme and Sheep Welfare Scheme.
