Wilton Waste have got you covered!
Schedule of Christmas collections
Irish people are, by now, well-accustomed the attractive discounts of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Cavan people are no different in wanting to bag a bargain and get presents in early for Christmas. This adds to an increase in the volume of packaging that makes its way into the refuse bin over the festive season.
The increase in waste over the Christmas period is handed over to the companies like Wilton Recycling, and the importance of waste removal companies should not be overlooked in the holidays.
Barry O'Brien of Wilton Recycling says this is a busy time for them: “Materials collected for recycling start to creep up after November sales. Typically, Christmas week and the first week of the New Year will see a 20% to 25% increase in materials collected for recycling and, while Wilton Recycling welcome this, we encourage everyone to be conscious of the waste they produce.”
Some of the waste and recycling generated by Irish households over the festive period include: 74,000 tonnes of glass, paper and cardboard (that’s 44 kilos of waste per household), 51 million beer cans – enough beer to fill 29.5 Lough Dergs and 1,100 tonnes of wrapping paper, enough to gift wrap the Spire in Dublin over 10 times.
Christmas collections
The schedule of pickups over the Christmas season is something about which people are most aware. “Our wheelie bin collections will be running as normal over Christmas week. However collection times will be much earlier than usual so we ask customers to please ensure bins are left out the night before their collection day. If there are any unforeseen changes to collections we will let our customers know by text message. Our office opening hours will be published in The Anglo-Celt in the coming weeks,” confirmed Tom Connolly.
Rodney Wilton is most appreciative of the support of their staff and customers throughout the year and wishes to offer them Season's greetings: “On behalf of everyone at Wilton Recycling, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our valued customers a happy Christmas and New year.”
