Dangerous junction flagged
Work on addressing a dangerous N3 junction is progressing, members of the Cavan Belturbet Municipal District were told at the November meeting of the authority. The call for safety works at the N3 junction at Drumsilla, Butlersbridge, was brought by both Cllr Brendan Fay (Ind) and Cllr Madeleine Argue (FG) to the agenda of the Cavan Belturbet Municipal District meeting. The motions noted several accidents at the location and called on Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to act.
Cllr Fay told members of one particular incident at the junction. “I know it’s being looked at, but I want to know when work on it will start,” he asked. Cllr Argue was also familiar with the case of which Cllr Fay spoke: “She was just so lucky. These problems are just going on and on.” Senior executive engineer for the district, Paul Mulligan, said the road design section of Cavan County Council have taken the problems at the junction very seriously.
Mr Mulligan said it has been brought to the attention of TII. “They have completed the tender for consultants,” he told the members.
“Consultants have been appointed. They are deciding on what is the next step,” added the engineer.
