Funding approval for St Felim's extension

The build will replace prefabs currently in use at the Farnham Road site

Approval granted has been granted for the construction of two new mainstream classrooms with ensuite facilities at St Felim’s National School in Cavan Town.

Minister for Education, Norma Foley, signed off on the development plan yesterday under the Department's Additional Accommodation Scheme.

The project brief includes plans for two 80m2 Mainstream classrooms, including ensuite toilets (total area incl walls and circulation 95m2).

The build will replace prefabs currently in use at the Farnham Road site.

“I was glad to learn from my colleague, Ms Norma Foley TD, that she had issued approval to St Felim’s National School, Farnham Street, Cavan for the construction of two mainstream classrooms with ensuite facilities,” said Fianna Fail TD, Brendan Smith, welcoming the news. “I was glad to have supported the school community with their application.”

His party colleague, Niamh Smyth complimented the principal, Board of Management and Parents’ Association on their successful application.

She also revealed that Annyalla National School in Monaghan has also been granted approval to move to the tendering stage of the process for one additional mainstream classroom with en-suite.
