Plans for new estate in Bailieboro
Plans for a major new housing development in Bailieborough have been lodged with Cavan County Council.
Drysdale Developments Ltd submitted the application for the 18 new homes recently. It hopes to build a mix of four bedroom houses at a site at Tanderagee on the Kells road.
The design statement submitted by Wynne, Gormley, Gilsenan Architects and Surveyors on behalf of the applicant shows the houses will run parallel to the Kells road, with a number of existing homes located between the two.
In its submission to the Council, the developer says the plans have been drawn up with "family living at the centre".
“The proposed housing development has been designed to accommodate family living with a large kitchen/dining/living areas forming the main hub of the dwellings,” it states.
All houses have four bedrooms but 10 of those would have a slightly larger floor plan at 219 sqm versus 200 sqm.
All planned homes will have the potential for attic conversions.
As part of the development, trees at the Bailieborough Primary Care Centre would have to be cut down to provide the appropriate sightlines for traffic entering and leaving the estate. The HSE has approved these works if planning permission is granted, with conditions, including that a fence be erected to replace the trees.
In 2006, plans for 36 houses on the same site were approved by Cavan County Council. However, the plans, from applicant Michael English, never came to fruition.
The latest plans are under consideration by Cavan County Council, with a decision expected by December 14.
