Cavan Day 2020 nominated for LAMA award
2020 was the event's inaugural year
Cavan Day 2020 has seen the local council nominated as being among the 'Best Connected' in the country in terms of communications and digital marketing.
The event, in its inaugural year and which celebrates all things Cavan, was hosted online on September 26, 2020, due to Covid.
It encouraged the people and global diaspora of Cavan to show their collective pride for the county.
Cavan have also been nominated in the Best Community Based Initiative for the Cavan Library Covid-19 Book Delivery Service, with Cavan Civil Defence nominated for Emergency Response Team of the Year.
Elsewhere, neighbouring Co Monaghan saw its Reclaimed Asphalt Pilot Scheme recognised when it was selected as one of a dozen projects from across the country nominated as a Best Environmental/ Ecological Project/ Initiative at the LAMA hosted awards.
Also nominated for All-Ireland Community and Council Awards is the Patrick Kavanagh Visitor Experience. They have been selected as a finalist in the Best Tourism Initiative category.
The Carrickmacross Workhouse- Interpretation and Education Project meanwhile was nominated in the Best Heritage Project category, with the Monaghan Sanctuary Runners nominated in the Best Community Sports Team/ Club category.
