Extension of streetscape deadline welcomed
It was discussed at Cavan County Council's monthly meeting.
An extension to the deadline of the Streetscape Enhancement Programme has been welcomed.
Rural and Community Development Minister Heather Humphreys today announced the pushing of the deadline for works to be completed to December 31.
It had originally been set at October 31 but the tight deadline was causing difficulties for local groups.
Councillor Trevor Smith (FG) this week placed a motion on the County Council’s agenda calling for the deadline to be extended.
He said an extension was needed as painting can’t be carried out during bad weather and delays in supply chains meant some supplies had not yet been delivered.
He welcomed the extension at the local authority meeting.
€7 million was allocated to towns and villages across the country earlier this year.
Belturbet, Ballyjamesduff and Cootehill were the successful Cavan towns, sharing in €260,000 in funding.
