Investigation after vandalism at Virginia church
Gardaí are treating it as criminal damage.
An investigation has been launched after graffiti was sprayed on a church in Virginia.
The Lurgan Church of Ireland in the centre of the town fell victim to the vandalism at the weekend.
Parishioners had gathered to celebrate the church's 200th anniversary on Sunday afternoon, with the incident believed to have taken place the following night.
Thousands had been spent in the run up to the celebration, made up donations from Parishioners, to power-wash and clean the building.
Gardaí have confirmed the case is being treated as criminal damage and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them in Bailieborough Garda Station on 042-9694570.
Local Rector Canon Craig McCauley has thanked people for their support and offers of help to clean up.
