Arden fast off the mark
Belturbet based Arden Broadband is busy connecting homes and business across the county to high-speed, fibre optic broadband services as the rollout of the National Broadband Ireland project continues apace.
Entrepreneur Barry Wilson from Arden Fibre Broadband realised the potential of the project and was one of the first NBI retail broadband providers in the country.
Considered an essential service, Arden Broadband continued to operate during the lockdown. Company operatives were tasked with upgrading people's home connections as more and more people stayed home, worked from home and young people were learning remotely.
"We were extremely busy last year and this year has presented different challenges because, in December of last year, we on boarded or partnered with NBI, the company that is rolling out the National Broadband Plan," explained Barry.
The first domestic fibre optic customers connected under NBI in Cavan were in the Killykeen area with lightning fast speeds of up to 1,000mb/s now available through the fibre optic network.
Arden Broadband keep abreast of the rollout progress - targeting marketing activities in areas as the infrastructure becomes available.
The company is now attracting customers from as far away as Galway and Cork.
NBI install the infrastructure free of charge in the intervention areas. Then Arden operatives come along and connect the service to the broadband socket or end of network terminal in your home. The router is posted out to the customer and all they have to do is plug it in. Essentially Arden Broadband is the retail arm of the National Broadband Plan, providing billing and customer services.
