Power outage in parts of east and south Cavan

A fix to the power issues in both Cootehill and Finea is expected at around 7:45pm.

Hundreds of customers have been left without electricity this afternoon following a major outrage affecting homes in the east and south of the county

Engineers are working to repair “as quickly as possible” a fault in the Cootehill area, with reports also of houses and businesses without electricity in the Mullahoran and Finea areas also.

The fault at Errigal near Cootehill has affected 289 customers.

“We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” ESB Networks have posted online.

The fault was first reported just after 3pm, with the estimated fix time given at around 8pm.

The power problem at Finea was first reported before 4pm and affects some 83 customers.

ESB Networks expect to be able to fix the issue there at about the same time as in Cootehill.
