Councillor to tie the knot

Members of Cavan County Council issued words of congratulations to Fianna Fáil elected representative John Paul Feeley on his engagement. Cathaoirleach Sara O'Reilly started the applause for the Blacklion councillor on his Easter Monday proposal to his girlfriend Niamh Gavin at the April meeting of the authority.

Cllr Shane P O'Reilly added his voice to the commendations and joked: “Congratulations to John Paul and commiserations to Niamh,” while Cllr TP O'Reilly said, “Best of luck to both of you and may you have a long life together.”

Wishing the couple long life and happiness Cllr Patricia Walsh said it was one very positive news story. All the other members of the authority added their best wishes. Cllr Feeley thanked the members for their good wishes, but joked that the restrictions on the size of weddings may mean that not all of the elected representatives could attend.
