14 day Cavan Covid rate drops below 1,000
There has been 733 confirmed covid cases in the county in the past two weeks, and 30 new reports up to midnight last night.
The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population for Co Cavan has fallen below the 1,000 mark for the first time since it peaked above the benchmark a fortnight ago.
On January 7 Cavan was considered in the top five worst effected counties nationwide, where the rate of new Covid infections was increasingly spiralling upwards.
According to the latest update from the National Public Health Emergency Team this evening, the 14-day incidence per 100k population has now fallen back below 1,000, and up to January 21, now stands at 962.2.
The national average is 1,017.1.

The HPSC has been notified of 2,371 new confirmed cases nationally. There is now a total of 184,279 confirmed cases in Ireland to date.
Of the cases notified today, 1,129 are men and 1,194 are women, of which 57% are under 45 years of age. The median age of new infections is 40 years old.
The spread of new cases includes 757 in Dublin, 237 in Cork, 154 in Waterford, 123 in Wexford, 114 in Louth, and the remaining 986 cases are spread across all other counties.
As of 2pm today, 1,931 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 219 are in ICU.
There has been 78 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
